Welcome to Northwest Arlington ESL Center!
We invite you to join us as a student, volunteer teacher or donor. We believe that learning English empowers our students to get better jobs, help their children in school and become fully participating members of the Arlington community.
We believe our warm and friendly environment improves learning and fosters understanding. At the same time, our volunteers have the opportunity to form friendships with their newest neighbors, making a real difference in their own lives and the lives of the students.
We are looking for teachers for the Spring Semester starting January 10. You need only to know English and bring an open heart, although bi lingual instructors are needed for Level 1.
According to the Tarrant Literacy Coalition, 230,000 Tarrant County adults need basic English literacy services, but only four percent are receiving those services. Texas ranks 47th of all 50 states in literacy. Since 2005, we have reached out to hundreds of families in Arlington.
We currently serve over 149 adult students from more than 20 countries each semester in afternoon and evening ESL classes, with free childcare in the afternoons. And we have fun! Please come and join us.
"I do not have words to say how helpful the ESL program has been in my everyday life – in my job, on the street, and in my house. Thank you to all the wonderful teachers at ESL."
~Rosa Zacarias, Level 2 student
“We host the ESL Center because we believe that God’s arms are open wide, offering welcome to all people. We aim to embody that welcome, and the ESL program helps us do that.”
~Rev. Dr. Katie Hays, minister at Northwest Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
